Prayers That Change Nations

"Then he said to me, “Do not fear, Daniel, for from the first day that you set your heart to understand, and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard; and I have come because of your words. But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me twenty-one days; and behold, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, for I had been left alone there with the kings of Persia." (Daniel 10:12-13)

Hello Crosswind, I have been in fervent prayer for the nation not only because of the coming election in six days but also because of the spiritual depravity that had made God's judgement long overdue. The prophet Isaiah said: "Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter (Isaiah 5:20)." This nation has long departed from godly principles and has allowed practices that are a total affront to our Holy God. The souls of the millions of babies that have been aborted continue to cry out for justice. What Isaiah said is clearly true of the United States and its government, over the years, they have called what is wrong and evil (the murder of babies) good (the right of a woman to choose). Many in this nation have been desensitized from this horrible sin of abortion that has stood mostly unopposed. The church itself is complicit for this terrible crime against the unborn for not doing enough to call it out as the sin that it is, and do things electorally to stop it for good. Furthermore, by not even praying against the spiritual forces in the high places for righteousness to prevail in this land, the church has become even more an accomplice to evil. Some denominations have also embraced same sex marriage, opening the church to the slippery slope of other forms of sexual perversion. Ruth Bell Graham once said: "If God doesn’t punish America, He’ll have to apologize to Sodom and Gomorrah.” Behind national sins are demonic forces that rule as spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places (Ephesians 6:12) called principalities. Unlike Israel, to which God set His sights and made to be His own people by promise, other nations of the world since the tower of Babel have been consigned to these demonic rulers or principalities. In the whole passage from Daniel 10, we see that there are spiritual "princes" that ruled Persia and Greece that for all intents and purposes stood in the way of God's divine plan.  After His prayer for the nation of Israel, an angel appeared to Daniel and said that "your words were heard; and I have come because of your words. But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me twenty-one days; (Daniel 10:12-13)". Wouldn't it be great when and angel comes in response to your prayer and apologizes for being late? Such is what we saw in this instance when a national demonic ruler of the kingdom of Persia fought against the messenger from God until Michael, a chief angel came to help. The key to the breakthrough for Daniel's prayer is his 21 days of prayer and fasting. This is a picture of forces in the unseen realm that are fighting for the soul of nations and kingdom. This is also a clear picture of a true saint of God wrestling in prayer until God's forces prevailed.   More than praying for mercy for this nation, and we should pray for God's mercy; more than praying for God to stay His hand of judgement, and we should pray for that; more than these common trajectories of our prayer for the country, we have to persist in prayer and wrestle with God to defeat the evil forces and principalities that control the affairs of the nation. These are powerful prayers that can change the course of our nation, shape its future, raise godly leaders and reclaim the soul of this land. It takes an unrelenting commitment to pray like Daniel had. May the spirit of Daniel prevail in the church of Jesus Christ of this generation and dramatically change the affairs of the United States toward godliness. We are praying through these times and even beyond the election on Tuesday. We are also praying against the demonic coronavirus that it will no longer be weaponized by evil forces against people. "Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord (Psalm 33:12)". Let us persist in prayer for this country, God can alter its present course that leads to judgement and usher in a period of grace that leads to a spiritual awakening. Yours In Christ, Pastor Ramon
