Election Day Prayer

A Prayer on Election Day.

Good morning Crosswind Church! Today is election day and I remind you to exercise your sacred right to vote. Like I said in my last sermon, so much is at stake in this election. No matter the outcome, let us submit to God's will and acknowledge that He is the one who gives power to any regime. Our Lord is the source of riches and honor and He reigns supreme over all. This is the kind of prayer that King David prayed in 1 Chronicles 29. This is one of my favorite prayers in scripture because of David's attitude of humility that we should model. He prayed it near the end of his successful rule as king over Israel. And yet he was careful to humbly acknowledge that his success came from the Lord. How often it is that people get prideful and drunk with success that is so minuscule compared to the kind of success that David achieved. He took Israel to great heights as a kingdom, he vanquished Israel's enemies, he oversaw a period of honor and prosperity and Israel had become the envy of the whole world. With all that, David remained loyal to God and constantly remembered that everything he achieved was because of God. We can have the same attitude and pray the same prayer even before we embark on a new venture and before we see any measure of success. As a matter of fact, David prayed this prayer in preparation for the building of the temple in Jerusalem which ushered in a new form of national worship which God approved. Let us together pray this same prayer this day, election day and allow the Lord God to place His hand "of power and might... to make great.. and to give strength" on behalf of this country. Let us pray that God will usher in a period of national worship and revival to our land. Note that with all the attributes and greatness that he ascribed to the Lord God, David opened the prayer by calling God "our Father forever and ever". It is through that relationship with God as our Father forged by the death of His only Son Jesus that we boldly come to His throne and expect answers. Let us pray this prayer of praise: Blessed are You, Lord God of Israel, our Father, forever and ever. 11 Yours, O Lord, is the greatness, The power and the glory, The victory and the majesty; For all that is in heaven and in earth is Yours; Yours is the kingdom, O Lord, And You are exalted as head over all. 12 Both riches and honor come from You, And You reign over all. In Your hand is power and might; In Your hand it is to make great And to give strength to all. " (1 Chronicles 29:11-12) Forgive this nation of its sins and heal this land. Keep the peace in our streets and may you deal with any upheaval arising from today's election result. We take authority over the spiritual forces of the enemy and destroy them by the blood of Jesus. May righteousness exalt America. Pour Your Holy Spirit upon our land to bless it with a mighty revival. To You be the glory in the church by Christ Jesus. In His Name we pray, Amen! Victory is ours in Christ, Pastor Ramon
